Murmuring or Complaining versus humbling
There are evidences that murmuring or complaining is not good for our health. Murmuring is defined as a private or public expression of discontent.
The Holy Bible says in Philippians 2 verses 14-16 says “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
Listed below are some of the things that i have discovered.
1. Murmuring or complaining can kill you softly. Constant complaining or murmuring can develop as a habit that draws negative effects on your attitude towards a certain or most situations we encountered daily.
2. Complaining about everything that is not favorable to you will influence your life decisions that can lead into disastrous consequences when not properly evaluated, it shows who you are.
3. Murmuring is not pleasing to our One True and Living God.
How can we overcome murmuring? Murmuring is a spirit that creep along the life of most people, it can start in trivial things and can lead to a distraction of what our God wants us to be. We can overcome it by humbling down ourselves and praying to our Almighty and Great God. In 1 Peter 5:6-7 it says ” 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
How to humble ourselves?
There is a story i have read about the glass of water, i just want to share it with you, A Psychologist walked around a room while teaching Stress Management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “Half empty or Half full” question.
Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?” Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed.
In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes. The Stresses and Worries in Life, are like that Glass of Water in my hand. It doesn’t matter how heavy is it, but what matters is how long I hold it.
Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And If you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”
Philippians 4:6-7 KJV “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Remember to put the glass down and pray. You have a loving father who loves you. And after Prayer please do not pick the glass up. Leave it at the feet of of our LORD Jesus Christ! He is more than able, nothing is impossible for Him to do.
