Think On These Things

Attitude is a settled way of thinking about something you believed. It affects who you really are and what you will become.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 KJV

What occupies your mind more than anything else in your life today?

Your life is a result of your thoughts over the past few years and your future will eventually depend on what you think today, are you changing your attitude or your way of thinking?.

What enters our mind and occupies the thoughts and intents of our hearts will ultimately come out of our mouth. You can change your life today by starting to change the way you think. Here are some areas to consider that may shape our way of thinking:

  1. The type of environment that we live in determines our thoughts. Home is where values are formed and lifestyles are practiced. If one lives in a broken home, it will be reflected on his thoughts, words and habits.
  2. What you are doing during your spare time is the result of what you think about most of the time. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Good discipline of character is what it takes to spend your time wisely. Engage yourself in reading books that will help you in your personal development, spend more time reading the Word of our Creator, The Bible.
  3. There’s a saying that goes- “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future. Your closest friends will determine how you think, and unknowingly influence you, Oftentimes, peer pressure has great influence in our life.

You can change the way you think by following some principles the world suggest but be to truly change you need to go back to the basics, go back to our Creator, ask Him how, examine what His words are, remember you are not an accident you are created for a purpose.

All Glory belongs to our One True and Living GOD, who gave us His Word in Philippians 4:8, let this be a pattern of our thought life today.

a preacher of righteousness

study The Word

2 Peter 2:5  “And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;”

the preacher

In verse 5 of 2 Peter chapter 2, it says that Noah is a preacher of righteousness. Where we can find that Noah preached?

A vast majority of people are thinking that if Noah is a preacher of righteousness, why was it not recorded in the bible that he preached? We cannot fathom the thought of our God unless he reveals it to us.

We need to go back to the attitude of God and search the bible for the events in history that happened. There is a clear record of what the days of Noah were like in Matthew Chapter 24 verses 37 to 39 it says,

But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

If we put that in today’s perspective, if you are building an ark that is really enormous in size, many people will definitely be curious and ask what you are building.

With this, we propose to the reader to consider the thought that God has put in our heart. Please do not get us wrong: we are not adding to what the Word of God says, but ask of you to think of how the Word of God applies today, as well as in the time when Noah and his sons were building the ark.

Our God is merciful and just! He always give us the opportunity to consider our ways before he passes His judgement. His mercies endure forever, but it does not mean that He will not pass His judgement to us when we disobey His Word.

It was recorded that Noah was a preacher of righteousness, and it is possible that during those building years Noah preached to those people and in the end some of them truly repented but died in the flood because the door was already shut by God.

Considering the similarity between people in the days of Noah and now, people will surely raise many questions. Others may mock Noah’s family for their reason of building the ark, as it was evident that there was no rain or storm that is coming in that time. We know that they built the ark for a hundred years.

TO WHOM DID our Lord Jesus Christ PREACH?

In the New Testament, it was also recorded in 1 Peter 3:19-20 that Jesus preached unto the spirits in prison:

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” – 1 Peter 3:19-20 KJV and if we continue in verse 21-22 that says “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.”

Notice the phrase “sometime were disobedient”: it implies that sometimes they were obedient. This could mean that in the end when they were caught up in the flood before they died, some of them truly repented of their sins and believed what Noah had preached to them about the judgement of our Almighty God.

Like them, we were sometime disobedient before we knew the truth; when we obey and apply the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in baptism as written in verse 21, it fits perfectly to do and apply His Word in our lives.

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (that this not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God.)”

He is a faithful and just God, as what we’ve read in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

All Glory belongs to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: Our One True and Living God.

two thousand eighteen, a bliss

two thousand eighteen, a bliss

Time really flies, 2018 indeed was a year full of surprises, we are grateful for all that had been and we really know that indeed we are truly blessed by our our One and True Living GOD, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. A series of blessings and wonderful knowledge of truth we will share with you in the next minutes.

At the start of 2018, we are reminded that we are created in GOD’s image as what we’ve found in Genesis Chapter 1 verse 27 and when you apply the gospel: death, burial and resurrection in your life you became a witness, this account is found in the book of Acts Chapter 2 and verse 32 when Peter had preached when the day of Pentecost was fully come it says in verse 32 “This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.”

Knowing this those who received the promise must obey the great commission commanded to the apostles which included also today’s witnesses according to the promise after receiving the Holy Spirit baptism.

WE ARE NOW FELLOW Laborers that help preached like what apostle Peter preached in verse 38 that says “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

We are also reminded that our life is not consist of the abundant of material things that we poses and the difference between happiness and joy. Getting material things or riches on earth is easy but being truly rich in all aspects of life is different, we’ve found out that when a person became wealthy and forgot that the ability to get wealth only comes from the Almighty he/she later had to deal with a choice whether to serve GOD or money and this is a risk because it says where your treasure is there will be your heart also. We are glad to understand one passage in the old testament in Proverbs 13 verse 22 which says A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. and in Habakkuk Chapter 2 in verse 4 it says “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”

GOD reminds us also about His Golden Rule and the strait gate in Matthew 7:12-14 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The understanding of the True Way, Truth and the Life which was, will be and in Jesus Christ alone.

He later reveal to us that being a hypocrite will not help Him in His business as what we’ve read in verse 5 of Matthew the 7th chapter “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” He also help us to understand the five GOD questions: WHO we Are? Where we came from? What is our purpose of existence, our potential and our destination after passing this earth? that each believer must ask GOD as a good start of being in a process of discipleship.

It was really a big and ongoing challenge to be a doer of His word and not hearers only in our time era and it was a humbling experience that only by His grace we are save not by our own works lest we boast about it. And we heard one of His command in the new testament in Matthew chapter 5 in verse 48 to be perfect “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” and it’s a process!

As the year comes to an end we are reminded of one of our purpose in life as it is written in Ephesians Chapter 2 verse 10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” In Proverbs Chapter 16 verse 22 it is written “Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.” We are thankful of Proverbs chapter 9 in verse 10 that says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”

Lastly before the year ends we were able to understand this as it is revealed to us in the old testament in Job chapter 28 verse 28 that says “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”

To One True and Living GOD, Jesus Christ be all the Glory forever and ever.

Simple living

Simplicity is being the quality or condition of being easy to understand or do. Today we will discover the quality of being simple. Living a simple life for me is being contented on the things that you have, able to have the basic needs: food, clothing, shelter, and able to give your children good education. Most people do not understand the value of time, our life is from our birth to death and in between those are our choices.

There is a universal thought around the world, that to be successful: is to have a lot of money or resources, and this thought is imprinted somehow to most of us because of the culture or environment where we lived, the truth is, we need a deeper relationship with the Almighty and it will make us free and realize the importance of a simple living. we need to know our creator, in one passage he says in John 10:10 KJVThe thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. We might have a life more abundantly if we truly know Him to be sure that we are climbing the right ladder of success.

Simplicity in its context is not really simple, it is beyond the thinking of this world, it is even deeper than anyone can think, it is going back to the basics of life and the Creator. Its not what we want in life but what we need that counts, we need meaningful relationship with our family and loved ones, we need a loving and caring environment that will embody our aspirations, we need friends that listens and correct us when we are wrong and above all we need GOD to redeem us from this dark and dying world, live a simple life that brings glory and honour to our one true and living GOD, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, it will be a challenge if you do not know Him.
